PG Diploma in Surgical Research

This course is designed to provide medical graduates and faculty members with advanced training in surgical research methodologies, enabling them to conduct high-quality research, publish findings, and enhance their academic and professional portfolios. Participants will gain expertise in research design, data analysis, academic writing, and ethical considerations, preparing them for careers in surgical and allied specialties nationally and internationally.

Course Duration : 1 Year
Credit Hour : 12 Credit hour

Mode of Teaching

Online Zoom sessions will be held once every two weeks. Recorded sessions available for review. Teaching strategies include lectures, small group discussions, journal clubs, and assignments.

Course Outline

Module 1: Research Methodology and Design
Introduction to surgical research, literature review, hypothesis development, and sampling techniques.
Module 2: Data Analysis and Interpretation
Data collection methods, statistical analysis (SPSS/R/SAS), ethical considerations, and result presentation.
Module 3: Academic Writing and Research Project
Scientific writing, manuscript preparation, and submission of a research paper.

Target Audience

Medical graduates (MBBS and above); Surgical trainees and faculty members seeking to strengthen their research portfolios.

Timings

Two Alternate Sundays per month from 10:30am-12:30pm, (Pakistan Standard Time (+5 GMT))

A multimedia-rich online component will be an integral part of the course. Both synchronous and asynchronous learning tools are utilized to teach, collaborate, and support participants during the whole course. Active participation in an online environment is expected from all the participants to enhance and consolidate their learning. The expected duration of work is minimum 3 4 hours / week.
